Abbott clinical liaison to cover diabetic foot ulcer supplements
James F. Lucas III, Abbott Nutrition clinical liaison, will give the Clinical Leaders Using Best-practices presentation, The Use of Specialized Nutritional Supplement for Diabetic Foot Ulcers," from 11 a.m.-noon on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in classroom 3A.
The presentation is sponsored by the Office of Nursing Quality, Development and Professional Practice. Lunch will be available for the first 25 in attendance. For more information, email Charlotte Cockrell at cgcockrell@umc.edu.
Vice chancellor to speak at fall faculty meeting
Dr. LouAnn Woodward, UMMC vice chancellor for health affairs, is scheduled to speak at the fall faculty meeting set for noon on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in classroom R153 (lower amphitheatre).
Woodward will provide an update for the Medical Center and faculty with 20 years of service will be recognized. Flu shots will be available before and after the meeting from Student and Employee Health. Lunch will be available on a first-come basis.

Selected graduate students from diverse backgrounds in a range of academic disciplines will participate in the annual Rural Interdisciplinary Case Experience (RICE) Bowl, an interactive competition to provide the best solution for a realistic scenario about complex rural health issues from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in lecture hall 124 in the medical education building.
Sponsored by the Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities, the event will include participants from Jackson State University, Mississippi College, Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi and UMMC. A reception will follow the competition.
